GREEN SCHOOL - PROJECT 1

MY BIRTHDAY – MY PLANT

As reported by - Mrs Subhra Bhattacharjee ,TGT & Mr. Arindam Pal

Unique loving green initiative by SERMHSSEM-SRC

Walk into the premises of our school and you will find some students walking towards multiple plants , each one of them dedicatedly watering though one of the many plants .

A brain child of the Principal , Mrs Karabi Mukhopadhyaya, this is an unique idea to develop personal caring towards environment at a very early stage among the school students.

Under this noble initiative , every student of our school has to bring a plant on her birthday and plant it inside the school green box area. Hence forth , the respective students are responsibl to take care of their ‘own’ plant like watering regularly , rinsing the soil , giving natural fertilisers and so on.

This has developed a tremendous personal attachment of each child towards the plant and they are now more conscious and responsible towards the environment. It has also developed a kind of ‘love’ towards the plants among the students and they are seen keenly observing the growth of ‘their’ plants and taking proper due care without even a reminder.

Better said than done !!

GREEN SCHOOL - PROJECT 2

SAY 'NO' TO PLASTIC

As reported by - Mrs Subhra Bhattacharjee ,TGT & Mr. Arindam Pal

Reduce and reuse.. Students are advised to bring steel glass instead of single use water bottle or bring milton cool water bottle.

They were advised to a steel glass in their bags to reduce the use of plastics. The response of all the students was very positive as they realised that a small change in their day to day schedule would bringh drastic change in the environment.

Reuse : in this theme, students were asked to use plastic water bottles as planter for planting tree. taking the idea far and wide , they repared pen stand, flower vase etc and reused all the plastic bottles of soft drinks , etc.
