South Eastern Railway Mixed Hr. Sec. School (EM), Santragachi has a glorious past and I proudly welcome you all to this new age of information sharing . School plays a very important role in transforming life and shaping all the core values of civilised human life.
At SERMHSS, Santragachi, each child is treated as an individual full of unique capabilities , not necessarily academics , and is given ample space to explore herself in the guidance of expert teachers.
The school is a co-educational (mixed) English Medium higher secondary school, established in 1930 and administered by the Indian Railways for the education of the children of the railway employees and affiliated to the Council for the Indian School Certificate Examinations , New Delhi.
The School runs from class 1 to class XII through the medium of English. Hindi and Bengali are taught as second and third languages interchangebly. The school prepares the students to appear in ICSE Examinations ( Class X) and ISC Examinations ( Class 12). In ISC , there are two streams - Science and Commerce.
All the necessary facilities like Library, Laboratory, Games equipments, Classroom with modern teaching aids, dedicated sports coaches are provided for overall development of child.
Teachers at SERMHSS, Santragachi regularly go through training programmes through workshops and seminars and are regularly updated.
The school ensures that each child develops a sense of responsibility, care, love and concern towards his classmates, parents and society. This is an ever evolving process and each one of try our level best to achieve it .

The main objective of South Eastern Railway Mixed Higher Secondary School (English Medium), Santragachi is to make the students responsible citizens for the future by providing quality education along with career counselling. We provide quality and value education to our students with the help of our qualified and dedicated teachers through the use of modern teaching aids. Green boards are installed in all the classes. The school premises are connected to Wi-Fi. Extra classes, online classes, career counselling help students in exploring employment possibilities.
All classes are monitored under the surveillance of CCTVs. The principal inspects the classes every day and takes feedback from them. We provide Purified water through R.O. plant to children so that they do not suffer from any water-borne diseases. Our HYGINE monitoring team inspects students’ washroom routine wise. Railway Hospital sends their medical team to check students’ health in regular intervals. In this way we are creating a good education environment for the students. Railway Administration provides us full support, with their help we are going to construct another building in the near future in which we will start Arts stream and start more new courses. Parents and students are welcome with their suggestions for school development.
